Looppanel MCP connects your research workspace to AI tools like Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and ChatGPT. Once connected, you can ask questions about your research in plain language and the AI assistant will pull back quotes, notes, tags, insights, discussion guide answers, and interview summaries — with everything traceable back to Looppanel.
MCP is currently in beta. It is not enabled by default. To request access, contact the Looppanel team at [email protected]. Once MCP is enabled for your workspace, you'll see an MCP section under Settings.

🛠️ Step 1: Create an MCP configuration in Looppanel
Go to Settings in Looppanel.
Open the MCP section.
Click Create MCP Config.
Give the configuration a name based on the tool you're connecting — for example,
looppanel-claude-project1.Select the projects this configuration should have access to.
Click Create.
Copy the configuration generated for your AI tool.
Looppanel generates configurations for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and ChatGPT.
🔗 Step 2: Connect it to your AI tool
Paste the configuration you copied into your AI tool's MCP settings:
Claude Desktop — Add a connector in Claude →
Claude Code — Set up MCP in Claude Code →
ChatGPT — Add a custom MCP connector →
Once it's added, start a new conversation and confirm the Looppanel connection is showing as available.

Ask in plain language — you don't need to know how MCP works or which Looppanel tools are running behind the scenes.

Naming the study, project, theme, or interview helps the assistant find the right research faster.

Most evidence comes from notes and quotes. When you ask about an individual session, MCP uses that interview's session information, summary, and notes.
🔐 Permissions and data handling
MCP is read-only. It can retrieve and analyse research data, but it cannot change your projects, transcripts, notes, tags, or insights.
MCP follows your existing Looppanel permissions. You can only reach projects through MCP that you already have access to in Looppanel. Selecting a project while creating a configuration does not grant you access to it — if you can't open it in Looppanel, you can't reach it through MCP.
MCP only reaches the projects you select. You can create separate configurations for different tools or different groups of projects.
Where your data goes. When you ask a question, the AI tool retrieves research data from Looppanel and processes it inside that tool. [It is not used for model training]
🚫 Changing or revoking access
To change which projects a configuration can reach: Settings → MCP → select the configuration → update the project list.
To revoke a configuration: Settings → MCP → delete the configuration. Access stops immediately.
When someone leaves the team or loses project access in Looppanel: their MCP access to those projects is revoked automatically.
Do configurations expire? No.
📌 Notes & Tips
Quotes and evidence come from your research. If there's no matching evidence in your workspace, the assistant will say so rather than inventing quotes or findings.
Note count is not participant count. Several notes can come from the same interview, so the number of notes on a theme doesn't tell you how many participants raised it.
Be specific. Including the study name, project, theme, question, interview, or timeframe gets you more accurate results.
🧰 Troubleshooting
I can't see an MCP section in Settings. MCP is in beta and isn't enabled by default. Contact the Looppanel team to request access for your workspace.
I added the configuration but my AI tool doesn't show Looppanel. Start a new conversation — existing conversations won't pick up a newly added connection. If it's still missing, restart the app and check the configuration pasted in full.
The assistant says it can't find any research. Check that the project you're asking about is included in the configuration, and that you have access to it in Looppanel.
The answers seem to be missing research I know exists. Name the study or project in your question. If the evidence sits in a project outside your configuration, add it to the project list.
